Well That Didn’t Take Long – Karen Handel Resigns From Komen

Proving that doing stupid things is never beneficial to one’s career, the AP reports Karen Handel, former Hallmark Card employee and Secretary of State (of Georgia, home to a really large aquarium) has resigned from the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Handel is notable for her anti-abortion stance while running for Governor of Georgia, which she then carried into her role at the Komen Foundation. Jezebel has a wonderful summary of the PR disaster’s timeline.

On Gawker, Stephen Colbert makes a vociferous defense of Planned Parenthood. It’s worth watching.

The Most Offensive Political Ad Ever?

Holy crap. You think you’ve seen everything from the Republicans, and then there’s this. Which ran during the Superbowl.

I can’t figure out what’s more offensive: the music, the bicycle, the rice field, the faux-asian dialect, or that Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra actually PUT HIS NAME ON THIS!! Doesn’t he know that these are the sorts of ads you let a super PAC pay for? Duh. Politics 101 buddy.

Hoekstra is a former Representative from Michigan, and failed candidate for Governor. I wish him luck.

The Best Hockey/Superbowl Commercial (that didn’t air in the States)

Leave it to Budweiser Canada to create what may be the best commercial of the Superbowl, and it didn’t even air south of the border. Americans just don’t get hockey… there’s no cultural equivalent here.
